Woodlake Christmas Light Installation

Home › Neighborhoods › Woodlake

A lot of Woodlake houses have a long driveway running back to a detached garage. That driveway is the big question on these lots: light it, light the garage, both, or neither? The answer’s below. Woodlake Christmas light installation also means working on houses built between 1920 and 1960, and old trim doesn’t forgive nails or staples. We use neither. Reach us at (916) 586-7193.

Five kinds of old house, five kinds of roof

Woodlake isn’t a one-builder neighborhood. Within a couple of streets you can pass every one of these, and each one hangs differently.

  • Tudor. Steep front gables are the whole look, so that’s where the roofline lights go. We outline the gable and the main eave and work the pitch from ladders.
  • Spanish Revival. If the roof is tile, it gets its own clips, and we avoid standing on it, since a cracked tile is a bad souvenir.
  • Craftsman bungalow. Where there’s a deep porch with columns, the columns get pillar wraps and the porch beam carries lit garland.
  • Ranch. Long straight eaves. The quickest of the bunch.
  • Cape Cod. A simple main roof, sometimes with dormers. We do the main edge and add the dormers when they can be reached sensibly.

Not sure which you own? Doesn’t matter. Send a photo and we’ll figure it out, no architecture degree needed on either end.

The driveway and the detached garage

Lots here are compact, but the driveways are long because the garage sits at the back. That gives you three real options.

First, the house only. Perfectly respectable, and the least work. Second, house plus the garage roofline. From the street, a lit garage at the far end of the drive gives the property some depth, and if the garage has an outlet, power is simple. Third, add stake lighting down one side of the driveway to tie the two together. On a narrow lot, one side is enough. Both sides starts to look like a runway.

Call (916) 586-7193 and we’ll tell you which one suits your place. Often it’s the second.

Lawns, gardens and streets without sidewalks

People here keep manicured lawns and real gardens, so stakes go at the edge of a bed, never through the middle of your plants, and never beside a sprinkler head. Many Woodlake streets also lack sidewalks. Where the lawn runs straight to the pavement, we set stakes back a little so parked cars and delivery trucks don’t flatten them.

Tree wraps work on the front-yard trees with a clear trunk. A lit wreath at the door or in a front gable suits these older houses better than almost anything else, and it’s the least work for the most effect.

Woodlake Christmas lights follow your calendar

There’s no HOA. Woodlake has an active neighborhood association, but it’s voluntary, and a voluntary group isn’t out inspecting gutters. Nobody sets a date for when lights go up or come down. Put them up when you’re ready.

Quote, install, January

Woodlake Christmas light installation gets quoted by phone at (916) 586-7193, or from pictures you text or email. Get the front of the house and one looking down the driveway. Nobody has to visit.

The crew shows up carrying every strand, does the hanging, and leaves a timer running. If a strand gives up during the season, phone and we’ll repair it. In January we return and remove everything, garage included, and you never store a thing.

Woodlake sits by Del Paso Boulevard and Arden Way, near the Blue Line, and our base is off Bell Street in Arden-Arcade. Live near the Woodlake swim club? You’re on our side of town. We also serve neighborhoods all over Sacramento and the ranch houses of Del Paso Manor. Driveway details live on the stake lighting page, and the contact form is there for after hours. Decide about the garage, or let us decide for you.

Straight answers for Woodlake

Should I light the detached garage at the back of my Woodlake lot?

Often, yes. It adds depth from the street and if the garage has an outlet, power is easy. Driveway stakes down one side are optional on top of that.

Does Woodlake have an HOA that sets Christmas light dates?

No. The neighborhood association is voluntary and doesn’t set display dates, so the timing is up to you.

Will hanging lights damage the trim on my 1930s house?

It shouldn’t. Everything hangs from clips, so no nail, staple or drill bit touches old wood, stucco or tile.

Can you light a steep Tudor gable?

Yes. We outline the gable from ladders and tell you beforehand if any peak is out of safe reach.

My street has no sidewalk. Is stake lighting still an option?

Yes. Stakes sit a little way in from the road edge, where tires won’t find them.
